AMBUCS Southwest Chapter approached the City of Amarillo Parks and Recreation Department with a desire to build a fully-accessible Splash Pad inspired by their city’s historical values and meant to serve as a playground for the residents of Amarillo and the surrounding area.

6 Months of Construction
The addition of the Splash Pad to the Medical Center Park was intended to provide a safe and accommodating water play area for those with physical disabilities. What we created accomplished so much more. Now Medical Center Park is a popular destination for many surrounding areas as well as for the residents of the city of Amarillo.
$450,000
Splash Pad and access area totaled over 5,000 square feet. Topography in the park presented some challenges for the designers to overcome while integrating with a newly-constructed, accessible playground.
